The cedars of Lebanon get plenty of rain—the Lord's own trees, which he planted.
There the birds build their nests; the storks nest in the fir trees. (Ps 104:16-17)

Richly illustrated with color photographs and drawings, this book classifies and describes in detail the flora of the Bible. Plants are grouped in six categories:

Wild Trees and Shrubs; Domestic Trees and Shrubs; Food Plants, Grown and Gathered; Incense and Ointment; Plants for Everyday Use; and Flowers, Thorns, and Weeds.

Each entry lists the Hebrew/Aramaic, Greek, or Latin names of the plant being discussed, along with the biblical references where those names occur. The entry then offers a discussion of the biblical context, a description of the plant, and consideration of suitable translations for the plant names.

This encyclopedic work will prove invaluable to translators and more generally to all who study the Bible.
